AD(H)D Assessment

AD(H)D is a neurodevelopmental condition that often begins in childhood but is frequently diagnosed in adulthood. The assessment includes behavior, attention, and impulse control.

The diagnosis of ADHD is a complex process that involves various aspects of behavior, attention, and impulse control.

In Germany, the diagnosis of ADHD consists of several components, one of which is psychological testing.

Typical ADHD Symptoms:

  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Hyperactivity (not present in ADD)
  • Impulsivity
  • Chronic procrastination

How does the assessment work?

Important: I currently only offer assessments for adults.

Please allow approximately three hours for the assessment. You will typically receive a detailed report one to two weeks after the assessment.

Please note that I do not make medical diagnoses according to ICD 10/11. A medical ADHD diagnosis is usually made by specialists (e.g., psychiatrists) and comprises several components: a detailed medical history, an assessment of the patient’s current life situation, physical exclusion diagnostics, and, in most cases, psychological testing. I offer this psychological component in my practice:

Using standardized, scientifically based testing procedures (HASE), attention, impulsivity, and other relevant characteristics are systematically assessed and evaluated. This part of the overall diagnosis can thus already be covered and forms a helpful basis for further medical clarification.

During the in-depth diagnostic interview, we assess the current symptoms and childhood experiences. This includes a consideration of earlier developmental processes, academic and professional challenges, and family dynamics.

This is followed by standardized tests to assess concentration, impulse control, and general cognitive performance. For children, questionnaires for parents, teachers, or other caregivers may be used to assess behavior in different contexts.

An important component of ADHD diagnosis is to rule out other psychological or neurological disorders that may cause similar symptoms, such as depression, anxiety disorders, or specific learning disabilities. Since ADHD often appears comorbid (i.e., together) with other disorders, we thoroughly assess any other occurring symptoms.

After the appointment, you will receive a detailed report including clear recommendations for further actions. These can be both, therapeutic measures and, if necessary, a recommendation to see a psychiatrist.

How much does an ADHD assessment cost?

The costs of an ADHD test are not covered by health insurance. This service is therefore intended for self-payers.

Please allow approximately three hours for the test. The test includes a detailed report. The cost is €599.

Special appointments on weekends/holidays: The cost is €699. Please contact me regarding these appointments.

The invoice must be paid in cash or by bank transfer.

Why is this ADHD assessment useful?

  • Well-founded initial assessment: Clarification of whether the symptoms are consistent with ADHD or whether other causes are more likely
  • Prompt appointments: Quick appointment scheduling without months of waiting
  • Psychological assessment report: Written report that is often accepted by doctors for further diagnosis
  • Psychological assessment independent of health insurance: No exchange with the health insurance company and no diagnosis filing
-> If necessary, you can take the findings to a psychiatrist; this is up to you.
